Disagreements with in laws

Wow we have had our share of these.....

Our first encounter was when Daniel was only a few days old and we were all taking a nap so we did not answer the phone. Daniel had been circumcised and we thought there was something wrong and so we took him to Constantiaberg Medi Clinic for a nurse to have a look at him.

Colin' Mom and Dad were there visiting one of their friends and she would not talk to us for goodness sake we just recently had a baby who ended up in Constantiaberg Medi Clinic and she was not at all bothered as to what we were doing at the hospital. She walked ahead and colin' dad was still talking to us she went to fetch the car and hooted and hooted........

While I was still on Maternity leave with Daniel I was trying to put him to sleep and I did not know who was phoning but I was busy so I did not answer. She came down to our house and gave me a peace of her mind. But you know I was so shocked that I just lost it with her told her exactly how I felt.

Now recently she likes to tell us what when and how to do things....... When we went to fetch Daniel he had messed Milo on his brand new pants and it does stain so I told her it stains so she got all uptight with me and said she would wash it. That was it as far as I was concerned except she brought it up again and had to show me that she got it out.So I just said that if it's not washed straight away it stains. She was not happy at all with my statement. The joys of in laws...

I would love to hear comments on your experiences with the in laws so please feel free to comment....

Tantrums

Tantrums

We are back into our routine and loads of tantrums to. We have one in the morning because for one we are still tired and then mom changes my nappy, dresses me,puts sun tan lotion on gives me my botty when all I want to do is sleep.

Brushing teeth is quite a challenge,I make him lie down on the bed and then I sit "on top of him" holding him down so I can hold his hands and brush with the other. Our poor neighbours.

When Daniel gets home all he wants to do is be outside so if he is not allowed to play outside we have a full blown tantrum. Then when we have to come inside to have supper we have another tantrum off course and when that one is done we head for another when its time to get out the bath. and off course repeat of dressing and brushing teeth.

Wow, I sometimes feel like running away

I hope he will soon realise that some things are non negotiable.

Tantrums

Well this is one that keeps on coming up on the blogging seen.

We both work so we are the only influences in Daniel's life and it is rather hectic and all. Part of which we have noticed is that Daniel is not a morning person he fights going to bed but more than that he hates waking up in the morning.

We have horrible tantrums when we expected to eat our breakfast and nappy changes we turn into screaming monsters.

Anyone have advice on this horrible tantrum filled stage????

comments appreciated

Leaving your child Behind

Leaving your child behind....

This morning was sad for me as Daniel was not that happy to be left with Ouma and Oupa and although he did not want to give me a love,When it was time for me to go he cried out and it just broke my heart. I know he enjoys being with his Ouma and Oupa but I also know there is so much I am missing out on in his life.

But I am thankful that his grandparents are able to take care of him and I hope that when the time is right we will have another so that he has a sibling to play with and I hope that one day we will be in a position for me to work from home or for us to be able to afford for me to be a stay at home mom.

Being Difficult

I am having a tough time with Daniel at the moment it's at a time of the year where one is busy and more tired than usual.
The constant battle with Daniel is driving me insane as he does not want to eat his food at the moment and he is not a big drinker and he is such a skinny child as it is.

Sleep time is a battle as he does not want to go and sleep, scared he will miss some action.

I hope this will pass soon and Lord I pray that I might have patience with him.

Experiences of working and parenting

Colin and I both work full time.
I do find it tough at times because I am usually the one that organises supper, does the washing, dishes, baths Daniel (although I must just say Colin bathed Daniel last night so I could eat supper and wash dishes and some other chores).
I have been feeling rather irritated lately and I have gone back to the book I am reading and the Bible and it made a world of difference. I am able to handle Daniel's temper tantrums and just in general will just ignore something which might ordinarily get me to throw my toys out the cot.
